Club Coach, Part-time, Spring Valley (req1335)

Job Description

Under general supervision the club coaches are responsible for coordinating and recruiting club members from across the college. The coach will provide training opportunities, coach participants to compete (if they desire), coordinate competition logistics in collaboration with the college’s recreation director. Examples of Club Coach sports include running and mountain biking.
 
10-20 hours per week, depending on the part of the season; limited off season responsibilities such as recruitment, scheduling, and league meetings. Off season estimated 2-3 hours/ week.
 
For a non-exempt employee this is a part-time position which is limited to 28 hours per CMC’s workweek. CMC’s workweek is Saturday through Friday. For an exempt employee the position should meet the afore mentioned rough weekly hour requirements and/or be similar to a three-credit load assignment.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position, such as an Associate Degree and oneyear
related work experience or consider a two year college certificate, and two years related work
experience, or a High School Degree/GED and three years of related experience, or the equivalent
combination of education and experience.
 
Experience with a background and experience coaching in this area. They should be CPR-First Aid
certified and if their sport required any licenses, they would need to have those if required by the league
where the students participate. They need to comply with all league expectations.
 
Knowledge of outdoor athletic team sports management; sport tactics and techniques, practices and
methods; equipment, safety and rescue systems procedures; team building and facilitation; marketing
and sales methods; budget administration P-Card reconciliation and logistics management. Ideal
candidates will have experience with regional and national competition, knowledge of rules and
compliance, along with strong team building and communication skills.
 
Ability to: manage and coordinate multi-faceted activities; collaborate with diverse populations;
excellent verbal and interpersonal skills; organize, prioritize, and work independently; qualify and
maintain a Colorado driver’s license. The coach may be required to drive high occupancy vehicles for
team transportation and events.
