Job Description

Full time faculty positions begin in August 2024 with a 30-credit hour (170 day contract per Board Policy 4.12) teaching load annually.

CMC is seeking an experienced professional and dynamic educator to be part of the Isaacson School team. This faculty position will be based in the Roaring Fork Valley in western Colorado, an internationally recognized hub for year-round outdoor activities and mountain scenery. The position will primarily work at the Spring Valley campus in Glenwood Springs. Isaacson School faculty benefit from unique partnerships with organizations such as The Aspen Institute, X-Games, Aspen Film, and Five Points Film Festival.

The Isaacson School offers degrees (B.A.S., A.A.S.,) in Digital Media, Graphic Design, Professional Photography, Communication, and Integrated Media at the Spring Valley location. Faculty work collaboratively to support the interdisciplinary Isaacson School philosophy in a fluid, adaptive environment. Course delivery modalities include traditional face-to-face, online, hybrid, and asynchronous. The focus is on strong portfolio outcomes across a range of media.

The Isaacson School for Communication, Arts, and Media is looking for an accomplished practicing designer and critically engaged educator to complement the expertise of existing faculty in the media programs and collaborate in creatively integrating various media in course and program learning outcomes. The faculty member will support ongoing curriculum development and contribute innovative approaches to a vibrant, growing graphic design program. Ideal candidates will possess a strong understanding of both traditional and contemporary design practices with knowledge in emerging media and technologies. Areas of expertise may include but are not limited to: Design for Web and Mobile Platforms, Graphic Communication, Applied UI/UX, Immersive media and AR/VR, Motion Graphics, Typography, Informational Graphics, Way-Finding Systems, AI integration, or other related areas of Interactive Design. All Candidates should possess a technical mastery of industry-standard technologies and software, including the Adobe Creative Suite.

Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience with innovative teaching methodologies, actively incorporating technology into teaching and learning, and experience teaching diverse student populations. A pathway-to-career focus, broad use of project-based learning, and leveraging industry partnerships will allow the faculty to create exceptional learning opportunities. This position will lead the Associate of Applied Science in Graphic Design into the future by participating in program review, revision, and direction.

Teaching responsibilities expected of all faculty include teaching course load as assigned, evaluate courses, and assess student learning, meet established course, program and learning outcomes, comply with guidelines and policies, maintain office hours per established standards, develop rapport with students, assist with and participate in advising, orientation and registration activities.

CMC Faculty are generally expected to engage in scholarly endeavors as well as service activities such as campus and college committees, participation in relevant projects, mentor peers, participate in and assist with assessment activities, program review, student organization, recruiting and retention.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in this program, or eligible to be credentialed. Examples of ideal qualifications include:

A master’s degree in a related field with a minimum of three years of directly related experience, including the equivalent of one-year full time teaching experience. Higher Education teaching preferred. Applicants who possess a bachelor’s degree in a related field with a minimum of five years directly related experience, including the equivalent of one-year full time teaching experience may also be considered.
