Job Description

To support faculty using instructional design and best practices to develop quality teaching methods and courses in face-to-face, online, blended and hybrid learning environments, as well as researching, analyzing, designing, implementing, maintaining and supporting instructional technology solutions. This position also helps design training for students, faculty and staff.  Reporting to the Director of Technology Enhanced Learning, this position will work with faculty from multiple divisions to provide instructional design support, consultation, needs-based training, and guidance for best practices, ADA compliance support, and quality assurance.

This position is not available for telecommuting. The position is expected to be based at Central Services, though working from another CMC campus at designated times is preferred to the extent practicable.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position, such as a Master's degree from an accredited college/university in Instructional Design, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field, along with four years of instructional design experience in online and hybrid learning environments or applicable combination of education and experience necessary for the responsibilities of the position. Minimum of two years relevant teaching experience. 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate clear written and oral communication skills, effective interpersonal skills, analytical/problem solving skills, and the ability to work independently and in a team environment.  Knowledge of pedagogy and experience in project management is expected.  Experience with Articulate 360 is a plus.  Demonstrated experience with Canvas or another major learning management system (LMS) is required.

Special skills or abilities related to position:  Knowledge of online course design principles, such as Quality Matters, knowledge of requirements related to instructional technology for ADA compliance and familiarity with the boundaries of copyright and Fair Use guidelines. Demonstrated proficiency in collaborative business tools such as Office 365 or the Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, etc.) Demonstrated ability to contribute to the creation of an environment that is service oriented, supportive, engaging and effective.
